Lab Technician, Acceleration Consortium

Lihi Habaz

About

Lihi began her work with the Medicinal Chemistry SDL at the Acceleration Consortium as a postdoctoral researcher, collaborating with the Structural Genomics Consortium at the University of Toronto. After a year in this capacity, she advanced into a research technician position within the Medicinal Chemistry SDL. In this role, Lihi plays an important part in the design and synthesis of small molecule chemical probes that target a range of proteins. She is also instrumental in supporting the SDL’s initiatives to automate processes related to drug discovery and hit validation.

Lihi’s academic background includes a B.Sc. in Chemistry from York University, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Brock University. During her doctoral studies, she was supervised by Professor Tomas Hudlicky and focused her research on the total synthesis of anticancer drug candidates. Before joining the Acceleration Consortium, Lihi gained valuable industry experience as a Scientist in the Medicinal Chemistry department at Paraza Pharma Inc., a contract research organization based in Montreal.
