Chao Zheng

Dr. Chao Zheng is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, and Chemistry at the University of Toronto. He is also a Scientist at the Brain Health Imaging Centre and the Azrieli Centre for Neuro-Radiochemistry at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
The Zheng Research Group pioneers the development of innovative radiopharmaceuticals aimed at transforming the diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. By integrating advances in organic chemistry, radiochemistry, pharmacology, and quantitative PET imaging, the group designs next-generation imaging agents that illuminate the biochemical changes underlying brain diseases.
These cutting-edge radioligands allow clinicians and researchers to visualize disease progression and therapeutic responses with unprecedented clarity, from preclinical models to clinical translation. Through this work, the Zheng Group is developing powerful tools to decode brain function, accelerate disease diagnosis, therapeutic discovery, and ultimately improve patient care.
