Chanelle Brown

About

Chanelle Brown completed her PhD in Polymer Chemistry at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) under the research direction of Drs. Richard Gandour and S. Richard Turner. Chanelle’s dissertation research focused the synthesis of well-defined amphiphilic copolymers of substituted stilbenes as detergent alternatives for membrane protein solubilization. In addition to her research, Chanelle served as the treasurer for Virginia Tech’s chapter of Poly-co-PMSE, a student-led organization affiliated with the ACS divisions of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering(PMSE). Chanelle then completed her postdoc at a US Department of Defense (DoD) laboratory where she designed new monomers and polymers for high-performance applications.
