Weilai Yu is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto. His research program aims at seamlessly integrating fundamental electrochemistry, surface science, and functional material-interface design toward developing next-generation technologies of energy conversion and storage, aided by an interdisciplinary approach of combining high throughput and autonomous experimentation with artificial intellegence.
He received his B.S and Ph.D in Chemistry at Wuhan University and California Institute of Technology (Caltech), respectively. Prior to UofT, he was a Postdoc Scholar of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. His notable academic regonitions are being invited as a Young Scientist for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2022), as well as a Community Editorial Member of Materials Horizons by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
