Prior to joining the Acceleration Consortium, Sean worked in the office of the Vice-President of Research and Innovation at the University of Toronto as the Executive Director Strategic Initiatives development. In this role, Sean led a team developing and scaling high-priority interdisciplinary research networks and supporting these networks through fundraising and partnership development with industry, public sector research institutes, and not-for-profit agencies. Before joining the Office of the Vice President of Research and Innovation, Sean was the Executive Director of BioZone, the Centre for Applied Bioengineering Research at the University of Toronto.
Prior to joining the University of Toronto, Sean worked at Genome Alberta as the Director of the Alberta Epigenetics Network, working to increase the capacity of Alberta researchers to conduct and translate high-impact epigenetics research. Sean received a Project Management Professional certification, an MBA specializing in entrepreneurship and innovation from the Haskayne School of Business, and a Ph.D. in Microbial Genomics from the University of Calgary. In addition to his interest in research, Sean is a professional photographer, and his travel photography has appeared in major publications such as National Geographic.
