Matthieu Schapira is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Toronto and Principal Investigator at the Structural Genomics Consortium, a public private partnership committed to accelerating drug discovery through open science, generating ultra-large open science data sets for AI driven drug discovery and harnessing self-driving laboratories for medicinal chemistry. His research focuses on the structural chemistry and chemical inhibition of target classes involved in epigenetic and ubiquitylation pathways. He leads the international CACHE challenges that reveal the state-of-the-art in computational hit finding and sets the stage for a breakthrough in AI-driven drug design. He completed his Ph.D at Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, post-doctoral studies at New York University, and worked at biotechs in San Diego and in France.
