Ivory (Wenyu) Zhang is a staff scientist in the Hein Group at the University of British Columbia, where she works at the intersection of robotics, automation, and chemistry. She specializes in software development for SDLs, contributing to the design of several SDLs and computer vision–based reaction monitoring tools. As the creator of IvoryOS, an open-source plug-and-play graphical interface, she integrates visual programming and large language models to streamline experimental design and enable rapid software integration for SDLs. Ivory is passionate about building open, flexible tools that make advanced lab automation accessible to researchers everywhere. Before joining the Hein Lab, she completed her BScs in Computer Science and Biochemistry and her PhD in Chemistry at Carleton University.
