Bio

Ilya Yakavets joined the Acceleration Consortium as a Staff Scientist Human Organ Mimicry Self-Driving Laboratory after completing his postdoctoral research at University of Toronto. During his postdoc project in the group of Professor Eugenia Kumacheva, he developed and validated an innovative platform that combines tumor-on-a-chip technologies and machine learning. This platform aims to identify effective sequential multidrug anticancer therapies with maximum benefit and minimal potential harm. Recognized for his exceptional work, Ilya received the RBC and PRiME fellowships in 2021 and 2023.

 

Prior to his work at U of T, Ilya Yakavets obtained his B.Sc. in Biophysics and M.Sc. in Physics from Belarusian State University, both with honours in 2015 and 2016. In 2019, Ilya obtained Ph.D. degree in Nanotechnology and Bioengineering from the University of Lorraine and Belarusian State University, for which he was awarded the Lydie and Michel Wittner research prize in France.
