Prof. Andrea Bianchi is an Associate Professor in the Département de Physique at the Université de Montréal. From 2007 to 2017, he held the Tier II Canada Research Chair in Novel Materials for Spintronic Applications. He is an expert in the growth of intermetallic compounds and oxides using fluxes, vapor transport, or floating zone growth. His main characterization tools are thermodynamic measurements at low temperatures and in high magnetic fields coupled to neutron scattering and muSR spectroscopy. He works on frustrated magnets, unconventional superconductors and magnetic low-carrier density systems.
